What is Piriformis Syndrome?
Piriformis syndrome is a disorder that causes low back, hip and leg pain, numbness and tingling from the hip to the foot as a result of the piriformis muscle pressing on the sciatic nerve.
As the load on the muscle increases during sitting, complaints may increase during sitting. Long walks are also among the factors that increase pain.
The two main causes of Piriformis syndrome are muscle shortness and muscle spasm due to trauma or circulatory disorders.
